transition funding

Committed to improving quality of life in Detroit, local foundations are investing in a transition process that centers Detroiters in decision-making and encourages broader community participation in shaping how the City moves forward.

The goal of the transition fund will be to:

  • Support strong governance and ensure continuity of city business and services

  • Translate community-informed program and policy ideals into actionable priorities

  • Build and support a well-managed transition process, including consultants, working groups, community engagement and clear communication

  • Support talent retention and attraction while strengthening organizational culture

  • Maintain continuity of core programs and priorities to ensure stability and sustained progress across the city

This support helps create meaningful opportunities for residents across neighborhoods to share their perspectives, priorities and ideas, ensuring that future plans are rooted in real experiences and community needs.

By engaging people directly in conversations about Detroit’s future, this effort helps build trust, strengthen civic participation and support solutions that reflect the diversity, resilience and creativity of the city.

Ultimately, investments like these ensure that policies and initiatives guiding Detroit’s next chapter are informed by the hopes and aspirations of the people who call the city home.

Rise Higher Detroit is deeply grateful to the following donors, as well as the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan for hosting the fund pro bono and contributing more than $26,000 in staffing and administrative in-kind support. The commitment of these organizations makes this community-centered engagement possible and helps ensure Detroit’s future is shaped by the voices of its residents.
